In 1921 a white mob ransacked the black neigbourhood of Greenwood in Tulsa, killing around 300 people and burning 35 BLOCKS of homes and businesses. 10,000 people were forced from their homes. They actually had planes dropping bombs of turpentine and coal oil.
City officials and police either did nothing or joined in
No-one was ever charged with an offence.

As the people of Greenwood are finally trying to find the graves of those who died, and preparing for the 100th anniversary next year, Trump is planning to tour Greenwood ahead of a rally in Tulsa

With a normal politician one might assume they were going to respectfully mourn those who died, apologise for the historical actions of the government and pledge that it must never happen again etc. But this is Trump. So I am fearful

This Tulsa event was the backbone of the recent Watchmen series on TV. To my shame, I'd never even heard of it happening and after witnessing the horrific dramatisation of it I went off to find out about the real events.

Utterly appalling and shameful. I dread to think how putting that event and its minefield implications together with Trump in the same mixing pot could pan out. It could be the springboard for further protest and outrage in the States.

I'm saddened to admit that until I watched the recent Watchmen series, I knew nothing of these events.

I don't think many did. As the article says everyone tried to sweep it under the carpet because it was too painful to address. Only recently has that changed.

Plus its not like UK schools taught anything about early 20C US history.

I wonder how many americans know about it

Likewise until I saw a quote from a Jewish lady to the effect of "Trump holding a rally in Tulsa on Juneteenth is like holding a rally at the gates of Auschwitz on Holocaust memorial day".

Which made me look up what Juneteenth was and learned of the above.

Of course, since then, Trump has claimed that he had made Juneteenth very famous...

Which in a twisted way, he has, as we are all sat here discussing it. Americans - particularly African-Americans have been acutely aware of it for over 150 years though.

The people I know in Oklahoma know about it as it's been taught in schools there, but only since the mid-80's I think. Prior to that it was just ignored.

I read on a couple of news channels of an alleged movement by American yoof to stuff Trump.

Anyone can book tickets to his rallies. So they did, in their hundreds. There’s no intention to go but by holding a ticket you prevent a supporter going and make the turnout look poor.

Maybe there’s hope for Merica yet!

The American 'yoof' are learning how to be effective. Protesting gun laws following school shootings, trying to disturb the Trump campaign trail and a few other things I can't recall right now. Hopefully they'll put it all together soon and change the course of the country - as long as they don't change their views as they get older...

It’s funny that the guys on 4chan are pissed off with the kids on TikTok for pulling that prank when just a few years ago it’s exactly the kind of tomfoolery the kids on 4chan would have been up to. How the turntables.

I don't think the tik tok kids stopped people going but they did make Trupton look a total idiot predicting a million people would turn up. They built an enormous outdoor stage and arena to accommodate the overflow. It was also utterly perfect that Faraage flew all the way there to give a glorious speech at the outdoor arena only to have to scuttle away when the hugely crowds failed to turn up.
Because of his ego that will be one of the most humiliating blows he's had, hopefully a sign of things to come.

Not wholly convinced.
All very well at the moment because none of us like Trump. But how about when the republicans use their organisation and money to buy up every seat for a BIden rally so its empty and it becomes a standard tactic. Not good for democracy

A lot of these dirty tactics seem funny when its done to someone you don't like, less so when the tables are turned.

I actually agree with Dirk on this one, won't take much for Trump's foreign pals to set up a load of accounts to book tickets for Biden.

The difference is Biden doesn’t rely on massive rallies. They’re very much part of Trump’s ego and I think it’s absolutely fcuking tremendous that he’s been bruised by this.

You just know he’s been incredibly upset by it and that it was children, children!, that outsmarted him must cut deep. Frankly I’m all for it.

It wasn't children, the person behind the ticket thing was a 51 yeard old Buttigieg assistant.

It was funny though, it reminded me of a rapper a few years back that bought the first 10-15 rows of a rivals concert just to make it weird to him singing to people at the back

Trumps campaign merch store sells a colouring book where he is depicted as superman and referred to as "our great leader"

Have we had this before? It's an interactive map of all the shit he's been up to in the different agencies since becoming the 45th.

Article wrote:The Trump administration has brought its brand of corruption and self-dealing to every agency in the federal government, and it’s hard for anyone to keep on top of it all. We’ve mapped it out for you. Click on any agency building below, and unlock an extensive dossier of the activities happening inside.
