She was really good and showed the WH S/man to be just a idiot, but she still didn't get an answer - The current WH administration and the supporters are like a cult, blindly following Trump and just sticking their fingers in their ears when anybody asks a question they don't like.

And yet we have a huge Tory majority, so.

True, but Boris, for all his faults, is nowhere near the cnut that Trump is. Plus last time Boris had Corbyn as opposition, who could make anyone look good. Starmer is already proving tougher, I think the polls are now even or thereabouts with Labour still on the up, something I don't think Corbyn ever achieved.

Have to disagree with you there Dirk. Boris is easily an equal sized cnut to The Donald.

I don't agree. He's on the same scale but doesn't come remotely close. Trump is genuinely the worst kind of person. Zero redeeming features whatsoever. Narcissism oozes out of his every fat pore. I want him to die.

The polls are even which is all the more confusing. The government have overseen a chaotic Brexit and a disastrous Covid rolling from one disaster to another including treating us like actual cnuts (Cummings) and with corruption (PPE). And yet they're still on level par with the opposition.

The racism, sexism, homophobia, greed, corruption, gaslighting, bullying etc. etc. almost go without saying. It's his narcissistic personality disorder that annoys me the most though. He's always going on about how smart he is, how brilliant he is, how successful he is. He's had everything in life handed to him on a plate and he makes out he's a self-made man. He was given $400m by daddy and at 74yrs old he's $400m in debt.

But that is already a huge swing from the last election, plus Starmer for all his promise has not really landed yet. Yes he has had some good performances in PMQs. Yes Boris has fcuked up. But I think Starmer is reluctant to attack too much as in the current circumstances, it would look to be taking advantage of a crisis for political purposes rather than working for the good of the population. Sensible on his part to play it fairly softly, softly at the moment IMO.

But neither has he really stamped his mark on the labour party. He hasn't visibly succeeded in addressing momentum or anti-semitism; he hasn't put his mark on the party policies. I think only when he has done all those things will Labour's polling really improve (assuming of course that he does them right) into a lasting lead
His personal polling is good of course, but he needs to translate that into voting intention if he is to turn it into a complete turn-around

He's genuinely one of the most revolting and offensive people in the world. How he even gets one vote is baffling. He can't even talk using proper sentences, how in God's name did he become President of anything?

Do you think he is proud of what he does for a living?

Or do you think he knows he has to go out and lie and try to defend a piece of orange shit? Wonder what the people who work for Trump think about when they try to get to sleep at night.

If they're true believers in the conservative project they probably think they're doing God's work in helping to stack the courts with anti abortion judges.

Excellent.

I can't help wonder if this is some foul move by his campaign team though...

Well the Hydroxychloroquine didn't work then. Colour me surprised.

Definitely worth trying his suggestion of injecting himself with bleach though. Whatever the Docs say, because it was Trump's idea and his is smarter than them

Anyway, our thoughts and prayers are with the coronavirus at this difficult time

Shit, just seen a suggestion that Trump will negotiate with Pence that if they lose the election, Trump stands down just before Biden would take over, Pence then becomes President
Pence then pardons Trump
Pence then gets the £219k pa as an ex president rather than the much smaller fraction he gets as retired President of Senate

They both win, only justice and the US taxpayers loses

Wouldn't he need to have convicted first in order to be pardoned?

Another question that popped into my head, if Trump quickly dies, yay etc., would Pence then fight the campaign and would that actually lure some Republicans back who were turned off by Trump?

For federal offences, no. President can pardon people before any legal action even started.
He can't pardon state offences at all. But I'm not sure any state will pursue

Depends if he wins the election, IMO, New York state has a substantial case of money laundering and evasion of taxes lined up to jail the Donald, much easier to convict if he is just an ex-president with an exhaustive history of illegal activities to prosecute rather than taking a sitting president to a court. That always seemed to be the case, once he won the 2016 election he set off on a tightrope walk hoping to escape with his assets intact (golf courses, hotels etc.) he had to win two terms, because law enforcement prosecutors are now all lined up to nail him to a door if he loses the 2020 election.

Gerald Ford pre-emptively pardoned Nixon before he was ever charged. The Southern District of NY does seem very keen on prosecuting Trump and it would be much simpler if he wasn’t president.

I thought the same.

I don't think I've ever wanted someone to genuinely die. I'm just trying to work out whether I genuinely want Trump to. If anyone has to, I hope it's him, but I guess a career ending dose followed by a lengthy prison sentence, full asset strip and international shame would be preferable.

I’ve been examining my feelings on this today as well. My honest to god initial reaction was ‘yessss, hope he carks it’ swiftly followed by remonstrating with myself for being an awful person wishing someone else dead.

It’s a real dilemma.

He’s in Walter Reed hospital now.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-54396670

US President Donald Trump is being taken to hospital less than 24 hours after testing positive for coronavirus.
The White House said the decision to transport him to Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre was taken "out of an abundance of caution".
Mr Trump began exhibiting "mild symptoms" of Covid-19 on Thursday after disclosing that he and his wife had gone into quarantine late Wednesday.
The White House said he was feeling "fatigued but in good spirits".
Mr Trump's symptoms include a low-grade fever, according to the BBC's US partner, CBS News.
The presidential helicopter, Marine One, is currently on the White House lawn waiting to transport him.

You don’t get taken to hospital unless you need oxygen in my opinion.
