Fun car game!

General car gossip.

Fun car game!

Post by Deuteronomy @ Thu May 21, 2020 11:51 am

Okay, it's the best car game now, I noticed this little monkey when browsing for another car and am amazed that something this pretty can be had for so little.

So then, the game is the best car for around the £20k mark, you can go a little over with room to negotiate down. 'Best' is a subjective criteria, so you have to give your reasons.

My submission:

Best justification: This is sooooo pretty, amazing marque prestige and you can actually fit two adults in the back (I've had a go in a couple of them, 4.2 and 4.7)

Nice noise. Looks alright. Probably won't break. Bit different.

That Granturismo is amazing value. So, just how cheaply could I get into a Quattroporte?

The sound is also sublime. A friend of mine had a 575M but when kids came along he bought a GranCabrio because of course that's a sensible family car. Roof down full bore the sound was actually sexual.

I expect the Maser is affordable because no other maufacturer has a more terrifying price of entry to upkeep cost ratio.

I'm fully expecting a DB9 to do well in this game, as suggested in the TR7 thread.

But my vote is going to go for this, bit Marmite in terms of looks, but I think think it's a stone cold future classic and should be great to drive. N/A, manual, analogue. The advert is off-putting, but the car would definitely be worth a look. £18k.

The houses and area in that Z3M advert look, well, y’know.

Always liked the car though.

I did say that it's a shocking advert, but this was about finding the best car, not being the biggest snob. If it was, you'd both have won. And your prize is a razz around the block in that RS Turbo and half an hour with Stacey.

I think we can all agree that I'm the real winner here.

If Deuts gets that Maser then he is the winner.

Just to put it in this thread too, the DB9. Deuts has said he likes them before and just look at it for all the justification you need. Decide for yourself whether the fact it had a new engine less than 10,000 miles ago while the car had only covered 45-50K is a good thing or not. Actually fitting new engines to DB9’s in the 40-60K mile range doesn’t seem that uncommon when you look through the adverts. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202002177421649

On a slightly (ahem) more expensive note if a man was to sell two cars, let’s say a TR7 and an RS4 for argument’s sake, would it really be such a massive stretch to chip a bit more into the kitty for a DB11? What if I told you that they’re out there for less than £80K? £90K gives you a good choice of cars and surely a buyer of expensive cars is in a very good haggling position right now.

I was going to post something about how cheap cars are in UK but a quick check has shown me that prices in NZ have dropped a lot recently.
Still dearer than UK but probably not enough to justify the hassles of importing now.

£9990 isn't even bottom dollar for a Quattroporte, so you could buy this and another one for the inevitably needed spares.
