I failed as far as this thread goes, but had another go in November last year. Got up one Saturday morning, had the last one in the packet and thought that'd do me. I've not touched one since :)

Put on a few pounds but feel much better for it, and I seem to have loads more cash ! This summer is the summer of diet and exercise.....

CF, who said on this thread he would have a go at some point, stopped a week before me. I hope he's kept it up too.

Excellent stuff! :)

Very rarely think about it to be honest. I don't really think of myself as someone who has given up smoking, more that I simply don't smoke.

I don't like the smell at all, but I don't care if others smoke or not.

I gave up in feb this year after smoking 20 a day for 25 years. I used an electronic cigarette from http://www.intellicig.com/ .

It worked for me, however I am really struggling not to gain weight.

Well done too Arblist, I dont think there is anyway of avoiding some weight gain.

It never bothered me after I gave up that people smoked around me, but I do know some that gave up and became obnoxious if anyone lit up nearby.

Good luck. I gave up three and a half years ago. It was one of the very best things I've done. Don't miss fags at all now. In fact, I can hardly imagine myself with a cigarette in my mouth.

I couldn't help reading "cigarette" there as a highly immature euphemism. :hehe:

Is that true?

For me, yes. I've tried giving up many times in the past and apart from one time (I quit for 2 1/2 years), I always cracked early. Was on a pack of Bensons a day.

Cracking open a bottle of bubbly tonight as wife got her exam results today (passed), but no cigs and don't miss them at all. Nearly 2 weeks now. :)
