Massive Council Tax Rises

Sounds rather excessive to me, I'm sure they don't need as much money as they take to start with. You sure don't get any value for money currently.

Yup terrible result of the government failing to increase the budget for social care and instead shifting the responsibility to local government, there s a large and growing cost for social care of the elderly as the baby boomers bubble works it way through and currently the government saying 'lalala its not happening' does't help, Brexit will fcuk things up to be many times worse.

They certainly wouldn't if they weren't so fcuking stupid and didn't keep burning millions on fcuking stupid things. To pick a few that ours has done:

- Installed a bus lane down one of the roads into the city, or down about half of it because it keeps stopping in places where the houses were too close to the road for them to find the width. The only place the buses ever got held up on that road was at the traffic lights at the bottom in the first place, and they still get held up at the traffic lights at the bottom and they always will because there's a single-track bridge in the way. It has made precisely sod all difference to anything at all except to cost an enormous amount of money entirely out of proportion to the difficulty of painting some lines on the road and widening about 50 yards of it.

- Whine about how much it costs to keep resurfacing the High Street time after time because every time they do it they do such a shit job that it can't take delivery vehicles using it for an hour or so every morning. They think that because it's a pedestrianised street there will never be any vehicles using it at all so it doesn't have to be strong enough to take them. Except none of the shops have any rear access so delivery vehicles have to be allowed. The idea of doing it to the same standard as every other fcuking road in the city is something they find it impossible to conceive of, and some of them think the best solution is to not allow the shops to have deliveries. Seriously.

- Squashing a circular roundabout into an oval about two thirds of the original width and using the extra space to make the bus stop layby wider. This cost over 2 million pounds. Council wankers were on the front page of the paper masturbating about how it was a flagship project to take the city into the 21st century and how much of a massive improvement it was and how it would boost trade so much and so on, fcuk me you've never heard such a load of shit. They turned a third of a roundabout into a bigger bus stop and it's made precisely fcuk all difference to anything at all and they might as well have piled up the 2 million pounds in the middle of the original roundabout and set fire to it, like the KLF.

- Not doing the maintenance required on the main city swimming pool until it had built up half a million pounds in backlog and this made it too expensive to repair so they closed it down instead. But it wasn't too expensive to build a whole new swimming pool at a cost of thirteen million pounds. Like, 26 times as much as the repairs that were too expensive to do.

In fact it's the same with pretty well anything they spend a large amount of money on. Huge sums go down the drain and achieve absolutely fcuk all while the councillors get to go on the front of the local paper talking the most incredible bollocks about how great the result was and making no sense whatsoever. They just don't have brains like normal people do.

That matches my thinking too.
