What have you watched on telly?

Some things cultured but mostly films and telly stuff.

Aye, but it's not much use if he doesn't speak Spanish.

Watched The Tiger King over the weekend. Was initially sympathetic-ish towards him, but any empathy I may have had drained away when I saw the funeral scene; the feeling was compounded when he remarried two months afterwards, and invited the dead un's poor still-shell-shocked mum to the wedding. Stone cold cnut, right there. From that point forward, I gleefully enjoyed all the terrible things that happened to him.

Soz doc. I was under the impression the whole world had seen it. Don't worry, there's plenty of other mental to come and TBH that's not really a big part of it.

Hunters on Amazon Prime

Story about some Nazi hunters in 70’s America with Al Pacino stealing every scene. Two episodes in and it’s entertaining so far. Very bingeworthy.

Excellent! That will be gloriously cynical and demoralising.

Shameless, the American one. I've not watched the UK one and don't know why I started watching this one.

It's absolutely ridiculous and so so bad so so often.

Just finishing S8.

I’ve started watching The Expanse on Amazon and can’t believe I’ve never heard of it before. It’s absolutely brilliant and I love it.

Devs was good right up until the ending. Intriguing science thriller. That description sounds shit, sorry.

The Loop was OK but not as good as I'd hoped after the first episode.

Hunters is heating up nicely.

Better Call Saul season was fabulous.

The Last Dance Michael Jordan documentary is good but for fans there is very little new info. I was hoping for an insight. I'm just thankful they pulled forward the release date a few months because sport is cancelled.

S2 of After Life - superb!
Dead to Me - 5 episodes in and it's great
Trial by Media - 1 ep in and it's fascinating

Part way through this at the moment and I adore it so far.

I've delved into lots of telly while furloughed, as you might imagine:

I'm loving Killing Eve 3, in spite of poor reviews.

Tried Santa Clarita Diet but only managed 3 episodes before I could bear no more. Unutterably smug and try hard.

Still trudging through Punisher, the programme that only wears black. I do enjoy it but it's kind of a slog.

Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins is a programme that never stops delightfully giving. Seeing Katie Price told to her face that she's an "utter fcuking disgrace" is my most rewatched telly moment of 2020 so far.

What else? Finally catching up with Seven Worlds One Planet which is fabulous as you all know.

Harlan Koben's The Stranger, which I sat through in a state of mounting apoplexy as the plot thrashed around like a beached fish, desperate to spring glaring twists, while Mrs Thorn was simultaneously delighted by it and couldn't remember anything that was going on from literally one scene to the next. Ghastly telly.

Mrs Thorn is now watching both The A Word and The Nest, neither of which I would touch with a barge pole.

Telly!

I don't think that's all that much over the space of the last three months or so. I might watch an hour or two of telly in the evening, so it's easy to get through a list like that when you don't just blankly watch whatever's on.

I suppose you watch no telly at all though Clogs, ergo it's all a waste of time.

I realised a few episodes in that I hated the main character. She’s an annoying wooden actress who talks slowly.

The ex-bf is great though. Really liked him. And the old black guy in devs. And loads of other people.

The scene where that guy snapped the neck against the tyre was fantastic. Seem to be an old guy messy scrap then SNAP!

Family and I watched all the Marvel Films...in chronological order....we'd eat tea together then crack on....can't believe how, when we started, it was something like 23 movies..."god....that'll take forever" and it's been a week or more since we finished them...incredible.

Been watching Black Mirror now, not sure what to make of it, it's different that's for sure, and I can't work out whether I feel it's trying too hard to be different rather than concentrate on the core topic, but engaging nonetheless.

Looking for something the whole family can watch if anyone has ideas?

We loved Modern Family too, which we've sadly now finished.

Well this might appeal to you a bit more Clogs, as it's just your era: this morning I've watched the entirety of Guy Martin's Great Escape - where ex-TT Racer and professional Northerner Guy Martin recreates Steve McQueen's iconic motorcycle jump to escape the Nazis in The Great Escape.

I've not really watched any Guy Martin programmes before, but he really is the most "by 'eck!" of presenters, always amazed and delighted by every little bit of historical information. There's actually the bones of a decent documentary in here too, context of the history of Stalag Luft 3 and of the real life escape, which was informative and quite emotionally powerful at times.

As well as plenty of motorcycle content and a whack of airtime for Triumph at Hinckley and for their vehicle prep skills.

It's a funny programme though, equally meticulous in its groundwork as it is ramshackle in the delivery. I enjoyed it, and enjoyed the idea that Martin might very well not accomplish what he set out to achieve, even though there seemed little effort made to manufacture any jeopardy or tension.

Good.

Does anybody else watch In For A Penny?

It's indefensibly stupid and disposable, but it makes the Thorn family laugh together every week. Which is no bad thing at the moment.

3 for me. John Barnes, Judy Murray and (I assume) Sir Matthew Pinsent.

I wouldn't have been confident of any without the names.

Gave in and watched Tiger King, mostly with my jaw on the floor.

I've now started White Lines which I think is excellent, a sizeable touch of Mad Dogs about it which is no bad thing. If I were to have a gripe everybody seems to know everybody else really well in a matter of minutes.
