Banana Vespa has finally been completed so let me introduce you to my latest ball breaker that I bought for a monkey:

No reg, no docs, no NOVA, no problem. Like fvck. There's always a problem.

Anyway.
This is how it should end up.

Is it meant to have indicators or not?

You're going to take that <waves arm in air, vaguely> and make that <waves other arm at nice thing>?

Impressive. This'll be a good one.

It's officially called Mela Verde which is Apple Green but you might be referencing that climbing boot so I won't say any more.

Only American or Jap ones ever had indicators. This doesn't even have a brake light, just a tail light.

Well I turned this:

Yeahhhhhhh, but that one is already assembled and looking like a bike. This next one just looks like a random pile of parts.

It's green ok? Mela Verde which means APPLE GREEN. NOT apple YELLOW.
That would be BANANA yellow.
Or CUSTARD yellow.

Damn you don't get this into a climbing boot thing!

Ahhaa! you didn't predict this!

I picked it up last night and not only is the petrol tank perfectly clean inside (rare on scruffy shit like this) it also has a Pinasco kit on the engine. Probably only 102cc but a bloody great result all the same as it wasn't mentioned in the advert.
It's like buying a 1.6 Capri and finding there's a 3.0l in it. It also has great compression.
Oh and it has a sports exhaust too!

With a start like that you know this one is going to fvck me over big time.

Keep watching!!!

I thought that was Pistachio green, I used to buy pistachio flavoured ice cream from a local ice cream parlour which was that colour, like the nut when you open it there is a thin inner skin approximately that colour, yellow snow is diferent and not to be eaten unless you know it was a bear or something that couldn't find the nearest woods, even then it is not a health drink.

Good Sunday. Completely stripped the engine. Rear brake was seized and down to the metal can't have been touched in decades. On the other hand the bearings and gaskets look quite new. That said I'll change the oil seals and gaskets anyway.
It's officially an 80cc Pinasco kit so all good then.

Had to reinstall the studs as they came out with the exhaust stub. Threadlocked this time just to be sure.

Nice couple of hours on Sunday.

Got up early and went for a ride on the Banana. Wow! I can finally build scooters. Lovely power, super slick gearbox, great suspension. I'm very proud of what I did.

Back in workshop and I drilled for floor runners, and centre stand before it goes for spraying. I also marked up any holes I wanted filling. They're not fixed down so they may not look straight.

Then I spilt the gears down and check everything and then rebuilt it and shimmed it. All good there with the selector and cogs. No visible wear or chunks removed.
Image

Then I tried to start stripping down the front hub. Shock removed easily, main hub nut totally seized. Balls!
WD 40 applied and left for now. Next phase will include heat..... and then an impact wrench.

I also bought a new better geared primary drive which means it should exceed it's former maximum of 30mph and hit about 45mph- enough to make it safer on the roads.

The two most costly parts of the build (apart from the paint) are the single seat (which arrived and looks fab!) and a 12v system the same as the banana and is on it's way from Italy.

Slowly slowly the build continues.

No photos sorry.

Managed to get the hub part-way apart and remove one bearing but I can't find a special tool I bought to undo a locking washer so the other is still in place.

I refurbished the rear hub and drum and that's ready to go.

I also cleaned up the fork and etch primed it ready for silver paint.

I also fitted the new primary drive and refurbished the clutch with new plates.

Didn't realise I'd done so much.

Had a phone call yesterday from the guy I used to navigate for. He's retired (at 60 the bastard!) and bought a full media blasting setup and built a unit on his farm to house it. Naturally he needs work so I dumped everything from this build that could either be sand or soda blasted and told him to get on with it.
I'm looking forward to working with nice clean bits instead of the greased up rusty shit that was.
Photos when it all comes back in a few weeks.

By any chance would he be near a port and have room for something approx 16m x 4.5m ?

Not far from a port but size might be a problem.
Tell you what you cut it into two pieces and I'll weld it back together when he's finished.

Oh hang on...

When I read this I immediately thought I might know someone that may be able to help. Then I realised that distance was the problem, not size.
