Two wheels good.

Yes I will. I take all stickers off all my things. It'll be lucky if it still says Kawasaki on it when I'm finished.

The old broken one? It honestly wasn't scary at the time, I was just cross.

Beg pardon, what’s a “naked” bike?

Good choice DaTho - bit of parallel twin character, cheap to run, all round usefulness.

Ta. Oddly I’d always assumed body panels were part of the bike rather than bolted on but of course that makes sense.

Oh is about all I can muster.
I was hoping for MV Dragster, would have smiled at Ducati Monster, grinned at KTM Duke/SMCR and been happy if a sports 600/4.
At least I look hip on my wifes Vespa 250 as I weave in and out of highway traffic at 120 (in shorts and t shirt).
That may not be true, the hip part.

I'll take your "oh" nnk. I know it's not an exciting bike, but I'm fortunate enough to have exciting bikes on tap from a friend - or will again, once all this Covid business is done.

e: and although I have looked at them, I really didn't want a sports 600/4. I didn't want a four at all, but the more characterful personality of a twin.

At the risk of opening a can of works: Can you tempt Nervy back too? Always good for a thought that man, IMO.

I'll happily ask him, but I don't think he's got the inclination for social media any more.

No, I must say that I wouldnt have expected a 600/4 , I did think a Triumph of some sort (Street Triple or Thruxton) may have been on your list.
And obv I'm just being mean about your choice, you know what you want/use a bike for so only you could make the final decision (a dull one, haha)

I would've liked a Bonneville or Street Scrambler, but budget this time didn't allow. So I decided to get on with it and get an motorcycle to use until the world's and my own economy sorts itself out.

I've just been to collect the Ninja and had about a 45 minute ride home through lovely rural villages and countryside. In the sunshine. Fab.

I was a little nervous last night, as the only riding I've done since falling off was the little bit up and down the road when I looked at the bike last weekend. But I had no reason to, as it turns out that it really is exactly like riding a bike and this one is a lovely easy bike to ride. Chunky, torquey delivery making it a cinch to pootle through villages at low revs, and plenty of engine braking to carve off speed without much effort. Much more immediately forgiving than my old Honda was, which is perfect for feeling happy back in the seat.

Because of the warm weather I was immediately pelted in the visor with bugs, which is forgotten happens. And although I was only wearing a Kevlar shirt and jeans it was boiling.

The bike feels quite light when you're on it, even though I suppose it's typically the same weight as competitors. But it's flicky and wieldy and no effort at all to steer. It was a literal piece of cake riding home. And that's good.

Also, one of the other bikes there when I picked it up was a GPZ900R. The Top Gun bike. It looked old but interesting, thus:

My bike is still pissing fuel out when running and I haven't had the heart to try to fix it. When I do it will probably be something really simple.

Eta: that sounds like a positive experience though, and the bike sounds good. Can't say I blame you for last night's nerves. Is Mrs DaTho still quiet on the subject?

Still quite quiet, and although she drove me to pick the bike up there were no "comments".

I went to London and rented one for the day back in 1985/6

Drove it back as far as Hereford to show off to a girl then drove it back to London and managed to get up to 156mph before my eyeballs vibrated to much I couldn't see and had to slow down.

I've just checked and Vmax was 158 so I am a Ninja god!

Very impressive!

I absolutely won't be maxing out my own little Ninja. Not a euphemism.

Is that a ZX7R?

I'll get some pictures of mine when I go out for a spin tomorrow. It's supposed to be sunny again, and I've taken the personalisation stickers off mine now so it looks alright.
