Nothing wrong with the tin. We use a loaf tin like that for a lemon drizzle.

Did you put plenty of skewer holes into the top before pouring over the syrup? They’re needed to get through the crust and soak into the sponge.

I didn't. I didn't know this was required. Most of it just ran off.

In fairness it looks like your recipe doesn’t have it in the method. We do a variation on this which would work in your tin. https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/lemon-drizzle-cake

I often make a burrito bowl to take to work. Lettuce, tomato, chicken breast, roasted corn, avocado, chipotle sauce and black beans or refried beans plus whatever else you fancy added. It keep well all day in a cool bag And can be bounced around a bit (both important for me).

It's looking like Beer and Burger for lunch today, since my favourite Kerb stall behind Kings Cross isn't there.

Need to get back into taking a packed lunch because I'm easily spending £200-£250 a month on food.

I've just had my first mince pie! I know it's bit early not even being thanksgiving but the supermarkets only get in a certain amount for the ethnic food aisle and if you wait too long they get snapped up. Walkers mini for those keeping score.

"...a whole open-topped pie which sliced is a lovely tea-time delicacy, or served with custard or brandy sauce, a great pudding."

I have got massively back into toasted sandwiches during the lockdown. A brilliant lazy way to use up all the bread that we can't easily buy.

Super retro!

Timing is key. In my oven 2m30 is perfectly runny but 3m is solid.

Forgot about talking about food.

My baby girl got a KitchenAid at Christmas and was using it most weekends before lockdown, since then, it's been on the go permanently. She's made all sorts, sponges, cakes, cinnamon swirls, breads, flatbreads, cookies, biscuits....incredible how busy she's kept with it (plus fast getting through the 20kgs of flour we started with!

Last night she made our tea, simple, Gino recipe, pasta with peccorino/eggs stirred through and lovely crisped pancetta....girl did good.

Otherwise, we've had a few simple BBQs, i've got a grate that goes over the fire pit, so nothing fancy, but decent grub, then the usual fajitas and roast every Sunday, but we're getting a bit bored of cooking now, so tomorrow night we're having our first takeaway...we're all really looking forward to it (Indian).

So...in short, i'm getting fat.

I have a real hankering for a proper filthy Chinese takeaway - salt and pepper chilli prawns, Cantonese style sweet and sour, beef in black bean sauce, etc. Those massive spring rolls. Chinese chicken curry* with those amazing chips that you only ever get from the Chinese takeaway. Prawn crackers. And so on.

*it's unlike any other curry, but omg it's just les tits on chips.

Are there any Yorshire people here? Wasn't that the TT origins story? Or is CJ+ part from there or something?

Anyway what's happening up there?
