Postmen forced to take part in ‘running man’ contest
Royal Mail have denied forcing postal delivery staff to complete a ‘running man’ style contest or face the sack.
The claims have arisen after a new computer system was used to calculate optimum routes and speeds. Staff say that vicious dogs, feral youths and geese are being used to chase them to improve their times.
‘It’s barbaric!’ said one postal worker who refused to be named. ‘My manager said I’d get the sack if I didn’t finish in under an hour and then he sent four hoodies after me. I didn’t even have time to stop for lunch halfway through my round!’
Some staff are having to work at least fourteen minutes past the end of their shift and face tough questions from managers if they don’t pre-complete the statutory number of ‘While you were out’ cards per round. Other measures to cut delivery times include leaving all post for blocks of flats in the nearest flat to the door, dumping of left over post in council wheelie bins and ‘losing’ parcels requiring a signature.
